We are currently looking a Power Trading Operator who contributes to electricity trading operations in Bulgaria by monitoring regulatory developments, gathering market intelligence, and coordinating compliance and administrative workflows. The role ensures the smooth and lawful execution of trading activities, facilitates interaction with external stakeholders (including regulators, counterparties, legal firms, and customs), and works closely with internal teams to manage invoicing and operational requirements. It also supports business development by identifying new opportunities and potential counterparties in the Bulgarian power market.

 

Your role will encompass:

  • Monitor industry developments, official sources, and regulatory news to provide ongoing insights into trends, risks, and opportunities within the Bulgarian electricity market.
  • Support the preparation of tender submissions, trade documentation, and post-trade processes, including contract tracking, collateral coordination, and confirmations.
  • Track changes in Bulgaria’s electricity market regulations and official decisions, and report updates relevant to trading operations and compliance.
  • Ensure alignment with local regulatory requirements and assist in the timely preparation and submission of reports or declarations to relevant authorities.
  • Identify new counterparties and assess local trading opportunities to support the company’s activity and growth in the Bulgarian power market.
  • Maintain communication with electricity market institutions in Bulgaria (e.g. regulator, system/market operator) to support operational coordination and issue resolution.
  • Liaise with the accounting team to verify, process, and submit invoices related to cross-border electricity trading in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Work with local legal advisors on regulatory and compliance matters, and coordinate with customs authorities as needed for cross-border electricity flows.

 

What you bring to the role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Master’s Degree (preferred, but not mandatory) in energy economics or energy finance.
  • Strong understanding of the Bulgarian electricity market structure and its regulatory landscape.
  • Hands-on experience in cross-border electricity trading operations, including invoicing and collateral handling.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and manage documentation related to tenders, contracts, and regulatory compliance.
  • Confident in interacting with local authorities, system operators, legal representatives, and finance departments.
  • Well-organized, with the ability to manage diverse tasks and meet tight deadlines.
  • Analytical thinking and precision in handling market and compliance documentation.
  • Self-driven with the ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to prepare and manage well-structured documents, reports, and presentations in a professional format.
  • Familiarity with regulatory or market platforms in Bulgaria (e.g., ESO, IBEX) for accessing market data or submitting required information.
  • Experience in reviewing, organizing, and validating contracts, invoices, and related documentation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
