Power Studies Engineer

Job Description: 

We are currently looking for a Power Studies Engineer to join our M Renewables team in Milan, part of our Italian subsidiary.

 

Your role will encompass: 

  • Modelling & Simulation:
    • Identify, implement and validate simulation models of renewable generation assets and associated equipment
    • Perform preliminary analysis to evaluate system performance under various operating scenarios
  • Power & engineering studies:
    • Conduct power system studies including load flow, short-circuit, dynamic stability, and harmonic analysis for renewable projects.
    • Assess compliance with grid codes and connection requirements
    • Conduct protection coordination studies
    • Conduct equipment sizing studies
  • Technical Documentation:
    • Write technical reports, study results, and recommendations for grid connection applications and engineering purposes.
    • Support preparation of documentation for regulatory approvals and grid operator submissions.
  • Stakeholder Coordination:
    • Liaise with grid operators, equipment suppliers, and project developers to ensure technical compliance and timely delivery of studies.
    • Provide technical support during project development, engineering, construction, commissioning and operational phases.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Stay updated on evolving grid codes, renewable integration standards, and emerging technologies.
    • Follow evolution of industry standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC, CENELEC, CEI, ENTSO-E)

 

What you bring to the role:

  • BSc/MEng;
  • Electrical Engineering background is considered an advantage
  • Proficiency in power system simulation software (DIgSILENT PowerFactory)
  • Fluency in Italian & English
  • Italian Grid Connection Process (TICA) and Grid Code and relevant standards
  • Knowledge in electrical engineering tools (Cableizer, CYMCAP, AMPERE EVOLUTION, …) is considered an advantage
  • Track record (minimum 3 years) in power system studies or grid integration of renewables
  • Track record in grid operators’ requirements and processes
  • Knowledge of AUTOCAD and technical drawing tools
  • Working experience in Italy
