Back-End Software Engineer

We are seeking a Back-End Software Engineer to join our Avokado team and contribute to the development of AI-driven web applications in the cloud. The role involves designing and implementing backend infrastructures, APIs, data pipelines, and integrating AI/ML models within an AWS environment. You will work closely with AI Engineers, Data Engineers, and Full Stack Developers in a dynamic Agile/Scrum setting.
 
Your role will encompass:
•    Participate in the design and development of backend infrastructures for AI-powered web applications.
•    Implement scalable REST/GraphQL APIs using AWS API Gateway, Python (Flask/FastAPI), and Node.js.
•    Manage authentication & access control (Amazon Cognito, JWT) to ensure secure services.
•    Build and maintain ETL pipelines (AWS Glue, Apache Spark) for large-scale data processing.
•    Manage data lakes (S3), perform querying (Athena), and handle data warehousing (Redshift).
•    Integrate and deploy Machine Learning/Generative AI models using SageMaker and Amazon Bedrock.
•    Develop event-driven and serverless architectures (AWS Lambda, Step Functions, EventBridge).
•    Contribute to the creation of CI/CD pipelines and monitoring systems (AWS CodePipeline, CodeBuild, CloudWatch).
•    Collaborate with AI Engineers, Data Engineers, and Full Stack Developers in an Agile/Scrum environment.
 
What you bring to the role:
•    Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
•    1-3 years of professional experience in backend application development.
•    Strong proficiency in Python and experience with frameworks (Flask, FastAPI, or Django).
•    Solid understanding of RESTful API design and microservices principles.
•    Experience with relational databases (SQL) and basic knowledge of data modeling.
•    Familiarity with AWS services (S3, Lambda, API Gateway, SageMaker, Cognito) or other cloud platforms.
•    Basic experience with containerization (Docker) and CI/CD pipelines.
•    Understanding of web application security principles and authentication/authorization management.
•    Preferably familiar with real-time data streaming (Kinesis, Kafka) and ETL pipelines.
•    Ability to work effectively in an Agile/Scrum environment with cross-functional teams (AI Engineers, Data Engineers).
•    Good command of English, both written and spoken.
