About the role
We are currently looking for a Senior HSE Advisor to join our team in Australia.
Location: Munna Creek, QLD
Contract Type: Full time, maximum term
Reporting to the Senior HSE Manager, the Senior HSE Advisor is responsible for supporting Metlen with construction and operational site HSE provisions. The Senior HSE Advisor shall implement Metlen’s Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) processes and systems on site whilst providing HSE advice, facilitating site inductions, conducting HSE compliance inspections, ensuring compliance with HSE policies and procedures, and disseminating HSE information.
• Assist in ensuring all work is conducted complies with Metlen’s Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) requirements at all times and in accordance with Metlen policies
• Managing HSE performance of Metlen employees and contractors
• Review contractors HSE Management Plans, Safe Work Method Statements (SWMS), Job Safety and Environment Assessments (JSEA’s) and Work Instructions (WI) prior to work being performed
• Facilitate site inductions for contractor onboarding
• Promote, and implement a safe culture for the project
• Monitor and interpret relevant HSE legislation, policies, and regulations to provide direction and advice to projects which meet statutory and corporate objectives and responsibilities
• Manage the implementation of return-to-work programs and procedures to ensure that all injuries are managed according to company and legislative requirements
• Assist with Developing and implementing Metlen Management Plans, SWMS, JSEA’s, and WI’s
• Review, approve and check compliance for HSE related permits using the HammerTech HSE platform
• Facilitate weekly HSE meeting with contractors
• Facilitate and participate in site Pre-start, Toolbox meetings and other on-site meetings
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
• Certificate IV or Diploma in an Occupational Health and Safety related discipline
• Previous experience in a HSE Advisor role preferably within the Building and Construction industry
• Understanding and implementation of HSE Risk Management approach, HSE management systems and certification process (ISO 45001 and 14001) thorough knowledge of AS 4801
• Good knowledge of OHS/WHS, Environment and workers compensation legislation
• Participate in Metlen HSE related meetings and raise with Metlen HSE Manager as required
• Conduct HSE compliance inspections on site using the Hammertech HSE platform
• Participate in external and internal HSE audits
• Inspections and authorise plant, equipment and tools using the HammerTech HSE platform
• Provide required weekly and monthly HSE reports to HSE Manager
• Assist coordination of HSE training for all site-based personnel
• Ensure Metlen HSE Objectives and Targets are reviewed, and conformance met
• Maintain a positive and professional relationship with landowners, contractors internal/external stakeholders and Health & Safety Representatives (if any)
• Report HSE incidents and complete investigations using the HammerTech HSE platform (5 Why’s)
• Facilitate and/or participate in formal HSE investigations (when required) using the Incident Cause Analysis Method (ICAM)
• Support the HSE Manager with the implementation and rollout of National HSE improvements and initiatives
• Undertake all responsibilities in a safe manner
• Ensure a safe working condition is present for all employees, contractors, and visitors
• Mentor junior HSE team members
• Maintaining HammerTech System data
• Review and check compliance with the Site HSE Activity Planner
• Train and educate the site team on safety expectations and standards
