About the role

We are currently looking for a Civil/Mechanical Engineer to join our team in Australia.

Location: Munna Creek, QLD

Contract Type: Full time, maximum term

Reporting to the Construction Manager, the Civil/Mechanical Engineer is responsible for for assisting the civil and mechanical design and construction of Metlen’s solar farm sites.

 

  • Work with broader MRES design team to ensure that civil and mechanical engineering design & specifications comply with design, regulatory requirements, quality, performance outcomes and best practice.
  • Assist team to ensure site is prepared for SP installation, ensuring land is leveled and any slope stability issues, soil erosion and/or potential hazards are addressed.
  • Assist in the design and construction of access roads and other infrastructure required (e.g. drainage systems).
  • Work with broader site team members e.g. HSE team to minimize the impact of construction on the ecosystem.
  • Ensure installation of mechanical scope is installed correctly and safely.
  • Perform maintenance and repair on solar systems are required to ensure they operate at maximum efficiency.
  • Provide timely and accurate engineering advice with respect civil and mechanical work.
  • Coordinate with the project team to ensure that all project/construction activities relating to civil and mechanical are completed safely, on time and within budget.
  • Coordinate with Supervisors, contractors and vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials, equipment, and services relating to civil and mechanical scope.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to ensure that work is being performed according to schedule and quality standards.
  • Work with project stakeholders, including customers, utilities, and regulatory agencies, to ensure project compliance with all relevant codes and standards
  • Conduct rigorous and regular inspections at various stages of construction to verify that all components meet civil and mechanical engineering specifications and industry standards.

 

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or mechanical engineering
  • Strong knowledge of solar technologies, design principles, and project management methodologies
  • Proven civil and mechanical engineering capability to review and assess designs, and recommend design adjustments as necessary to meet the site requirements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve technical issues
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements and compliance standards for solar projects
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on delivering results
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
  • Familiarity with Australian regulatory requirements and industry best practices for solar farms.
  • Experience within a multidisciplinary team environment, with specialist knowledge of the design, operation and maintenance of large scale solar farms.
