Thermal Asset Optimization Specialist

We are currently looking for a Thermal Asset Optimization Specialist to join our M Energy Generation & Management Division in our Marousi Offices.

 

By joining this role, you will step into a pivotal position as a Thermal Asset Optimization Specialist, responsible for ensuring the optimal operation of our company's thermal power plants through active participation in the Target Model markets (DAM, CRIDAs, XBID, RTBEM). You will leverage your technical expertise and valuation skills to collaborate closely with other members of the Energy Management team, contributing to efficient asset management.

 

Your role will encompass:

  • Performing day-to-day Price Forecasting of the Greek wholesale power markets.

  • Working closely with the rest of the Thermal Asset Optimization Team towards optimizing the daily financial position of the company's power plants fleet via participation in the Target Model markets (DAM, CRIDAs, XBID, RTBEM).

  • Participating in shifts (weekends and holidays) to ensure the continuous presence and operational effectiveness of the department in the aforementioned markets.

  • Participating in the development of analytical tools to assist the daily operations of the department.

  • Delivering tactical and ad hoc reports to the administration.

  • Working closely with budget owners to prepare budget proposals.

  • Continuously monitoring business results versus budget and reporting them to the administration.

  • Monitoring the performance of the company's power plants fleet using data analytics and developing strategies to enhance their profitability.

  • Communicating asset performance updates and challenges to management and relevant departments.

  • Taking ownership of choosing the most effective bidding strategies to optimize the operation of the company's thermal power plants.

 

What you bring to the role:

  • Hold a University degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.

  • A Master’s degree in Energy, Data Analysis, or Power Economics.

  • Possession of an Energy Trader Certificate from EnEx will be considered an asset.

  • Minimum of 3 years in the Energy Industry.

  • Demonstrated familiarity with Energy Markets and comprehensive understanding of their impact on thermal asset operations and optimization.

  • Competence in optimization algorithms and data analytics, with proficiency in at least one programming language such as VBA, Python or GAMS.

  • Strong skills in Data Analysis and Modeling.

  • Fluency in both written and verbal Greek and English.

  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

  • Excellent communications, interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated creativity and independent thought when solving problems.
