Senior Data Scientist

We are currently looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join our Technology Enablement Office in Athens, Greece. 

By joining this role, you will play a pivotal part in shaping our data science strategy, fostering an internal community of practice, and ensuring the quality and business relevance of AI solutions—particularly in the fast-evolving areas of predictive AI and Generative AI. 

 

Your role will encompass: 

  • Community Building: Establish and nurture a strong internal data science community across METLEN sectors, promoting collaboration, knowledge sharing, and innovation. 

  • Model Evaluation: Assess and validate AI/ML models developed internally or by external vendors, ensuring alignment with business needs, standards, and technical excellence. 

  • Technology Scouting: Stay updated on the latest AI and Gen-AI advancements and recommend innovative technologies that can create business value. 

  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Partner with business units, IT teams, and external stakeholders to translate complex data challenges into actionable insights. 

  • Governance & Best Practices: Contribute to data science standards, model governance frameworks, and responsible AI practices. 

 

What you bring to the role: 

  • 5+ years of experience in data science with a strong focus on predictive modeling. 

  • Bachelor in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field; Master’s or PhD degree is a plus. 

  • Proven expertise in designing, deploying, and evaluating machine learning models. 

  • Solid background in feature engineering, model selection, hyperparameter tuning, and performance evaluation. 

  • Strong programming skills in Python, R, or similar languages and experience with ML frameworks and understanding of Gen-AI technologies 

  • Hands-on experience with ML frameworks such as Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or PyTorch. 

  • Familiarity with MLOps practices, model monitoring, and lifecycle management is a plus 

  • Experience in evaluating and integrating third-party AI solutions is a plus.
