We are currently looking for an Energy Meteorologist to join our team at our offices in Marousi.
As an Energy Meteorologist you will play a key role in enhancing the accuracy of wind and solar production forecasts by leveraging meteorological expertise along with internal and third-party data. You will develop and refine forecasting models, monitor their performance, and provide actionable insights that support trading strategies and decision-making.
Your role will encompass:
- Utilize internal and third-party meteorological data to enhance wind and solar production forecast
- Monitor forecast performance, identify biases, and implement corrective adjustments
- Identifying potential risks or opportunities arising from weather events and deciding when to escalate to the trading team
- Develop, refine, and maintain forecasting models for individual assets and country-wide renewable generation
- Stay up-to-date with meteorological models, tools, and data sources to continuously improve forecasting accuracy
- Effective collaboration with traders, analysts, and other internal stakeholders to ensure forecasts are market-relevant
What you bring to the role:
- Bachelor’s degree in Meteorology, Environmental Sciences, or a related STEM discipline with specialization in Atmospheric Science
- 2+ years of experience with numerical weather prediction models and synoptic forecasting techniques (renewables, aviation, agriculture, or private sector)
- Postgraduate studies in Data Science / Machine Learning will be considered an asset
- Fluent in English with excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proven ability in time series analysis, bias correction, and handling large datasets
- Strong proficiency in Python and data analysis workflows; broader data science skills are highly valued
- Excellent mathematical ability and analytical thinking
