About the role
We are currently looking for a Country Manager to lead our team in Malaysia.
Reporting to the Managing Director (APAC), the Country Manager is responsible for responsible for leading Metlen’s operations, project execution, and strategic growth across the renewable energy, data center, and emerging business sectors in the country.
- Lead Metlen’s business operations and strategic initiatives in the country, ensuring alignment with company goals and objectives.
- Manage and provide direction to the heads of Development, EPC, and Grid Connection, ensuring the successful delivery of key projects on time, within budget, and to high standards.
- Drive the growth of Metlen’s renewable energy projects, exploring new opportunities and markets while maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders.
- Lead, mentor, and develop senior leaders in the Development, EPC, and Grid Connection teams to drive high performance and innovation.
- Oversee the country’s financial performance, including revenue and cost control, ensuring that financial goals are met and driving cost optimization.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including government bodies, regulatory authorities, project partners, and local communities.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, law, Engineering, construction management, project management commerce or related disciplines (prerequisite for role).
- 10+ years of experience in a leadership role, ideally within the renewable energy or energy sector.
- Proven track record in managing complex projects and leading cross-functional teams in large-scale energy or infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience in the Malaysian market, with a deep understanding of local regulations, permitting processes, and industry trends.
- Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to manage junior staff and multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders.
- Fluent in Malay (written and spoken) and proficient in English (written and spoken) (preferred).
