As part of a consortium with GE Vernova, Metlen Energy & Metals is helping to deliver Eastern Green Link 1 (EGL1).
EGL1 is a new high voltage direct current (HVDC) cable link being jointly developed by SP Energy Networks and National Grid Electricity Transmission. It will be built between the Dunbar area of East Lothian (at a site named Torness), and Murton in County Durham. Converter stations and new substations are required onshore at each end. The convertor station works will be delivered by our consortium. The main construction works are getting underway, with the project scheduled to be operational in 2029.
Scope of the Role: We are seeking a reliable and hardworking cleaner to join our team at the convertor station construction site at Torness, East Lothian. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining clean, safe, and hygienic welfare facilities for all site staff and visitors. All cleaning equipment will be provided.
Key responsibilities, accountabilities, and decision ownership:
- Daily cleaning of site welfare areas including:
- Offices
- Drying rooms
- Toilets and washrooms
- Canteen/catering facilities
- Replenishing supplies (toilet rolls, soap, hand towels, etc.).
- Safe disposal of waste and general rubbish removal.
- Maintaining cleanliness standards in line with health and safety requirements.
- Reporting any maintenance or hygiene issues to site management.
Core competencies, knowledge and experience:
- Ability to work independently and follow a schedule.
- Good attention to detail.
- Punctual and dependable.
- Must follow all site safety procedures.
- Previous cleaning experience preferred but not essential (construction site experience desirable)
Essential requirements & technical/professional qualifications:
- The right to work in the United Kingdom (without sponsorship)
- Able to write and speak English.
- CSCS card required – training will be provided if the candidate is not already a CSCS card holder
